Cell Phones:  out of sight, out of mind - Students should not have them out during class time.  To avoid any issues, Sra. Romano went out of her way and purchased a cellphone holder to safely place your phones.  With that being said, cell phones are to be placed in the phone holder upon class entrance.  You will be assigned a number on the first day of school.  Refusing to comply with this class rule will be considered insubordination and  will receive an office referral.

Technology in our Classroom: Expectations

  • Students will use computers/technology as instructed by the teacher.
  • Students will treat computers with respect. Students will not be permitted to physically misuse the equipment, or any other form of misuse.
  • Students must stay/work with the group and only go the site(s) that they are instructed to access.

        *Quizzizz (2023-2024)

All Quizizz assignments must be completed in class.  This is to avoid any issues when grades are synced in.  Yes, technology does fail us at time.  For the reason, after you have finish your practice set, make sure you go back to Canvas and double check that your grade has been posted.  Screenshots will NOT be graded.  Our school has paid to upgrade our subscription so that Quizzizz and Canvas are linked.   Sometimes, you will have to do a practice set twice and that's ok! considered it extra practice.  Time will be provided in class to fix any issues.

        *Quizlet (2023-2024)

All Quizlet assignments must be completed in class.  Remember to add all terms in a vocabulary set to your test.  This year, we are using the free version of Quizlet.  So, you only have one chance to take the test.  Once you have your test score, you need to take a screenshot and upload it to your assignment.

Attendance

According to School Board Policy #4.2000, students in grades    9-12 who are absent from class MORE than 8 days during a semester AND scores 70 or higher on the final exam of any type and scores a 60 or higher for the final class grade will be allowed to pass that class. The appeal process is still in place, when necessary. Excessive absences may cause a student to lose his/her parking pass or keep them from being able to purchase one in the future.

Exam Exemption Procedures

Exam Exemption Procedures - Students cannot be exempt from NC End of Course exams (EOCs), or Career Technical Education State Exams (CTEs).  Students can be exempt from teacher-made final exams if they do not exceed 5 absences of any type and have a final course average of "C" or higher. Any violation of the Catawba County Board of Education's Code of Conduct resulting in ISS (full day) or OSS during the semester negates the student's exam exemption opportunity.

  • Classes missed for school-sponsored activities or administrator approved college visits will not count against the student’s attendance for exams

  • If a student takes an AP exam, he/she will be exempt from an exam in that AP class

  • For the purpose of this policy, 2 tardies = 1 absence

  • Any exemption to this policy for medical reasons will be at the discretion of the principal
